Micro-Climate Planning

Passive-Cooling Systems

We design homes that breathe. By utilizing vernacular Konkan techniques, we eliminate the need for active air conditioning, directing maritime breezes through custom louvered screens and high-volume open pavilions.

The Mandrem House

Nestled within a mature coconut grove, this private residence was built entirely from laterite stone quarried within fifty kilometers. The structure stands on stilts to preserve local coastal hydrology.

Every room is oriented to capture the afternoon breeze off the Arabian Sea, utilizing high ceilings and breathing lime-plaster to maintain a cool indoor micro-climate through the peak of summer.
